Project write-ups

By November 7, please post a write-up of your semester project (so far) so that we can organize peer review. At this point, you should have at least a draft ready for conference presentation--7-10 pages, formal enough for that purpose, etc. Whatever state your project is in, the write-up should report on it as if you were presenting a paper at CCCC, WPA, NCTE, TESOL, or some other big conference. Thanks!

What do you think of this?

This article describes a new system developed by IBM. It purports to analyze your personal traits by examining your writing. There's a link in the article to the IBM site where you can try this out for yourself. You might be surprised at how low I scored on being "agreeable." ;-)

As you finish your class log, post it here, as a response. Please include the date in the title, so we can easily access the week we want.
Thanks!

Weekly Q&A

Use this post as the site for your weekly questions and responses. That way, we can keep the discussion active, and we can see the whole arc in play here. As you label your post, make sure you announce the topic of your question. Responses can then be made to your questions.

Welcome!

I am excited to begin our semester together! We have rhet/comp and lit colleagues, and one colleague from the College of Education's grad program. I expect our different perspectives and our divergent needs/questions will help make this an extremely productive seminar. No topic is off limits, as long as it's at least tangentially related to writing assessment--and that's a wide, wide range. Enjoy! I know I will.
